LINE DANCING is held in Withiel Village Hall every Tuesday evening, 7pm-9.30pm. Beginners: 7pm-7.45pm. Improvers/Advanced: 8pm-9.30pm. It is good exercise for the heart and general fitness.
We dance to a wide variety of music, including pop, Latin and some country, but line dancing has changed over the years becoming very up beat and using a lot of ballroom and Latin steps as well. We have waltzes, jive, cha cha and rumba beats to dance to, and recently tango, too.
We have fun parties and raise funds for lots of different charities, so if you want to try our fitness dancing, contact Wendy on 01208 831446.
At the moment our dancers are helping the Refuge charity by making blankets for adults and children when they arrive at a refuge centre. If you would like to donate any wool or knit/crochet some 6in squares, please get in touch with me (01208 831446) as I’m making them up into blankets and edging them to make them nice before sending them off. We made 11 blankets in six weeks just before Xmas.
I want to say thank you to people for nominating me to carry the Olympic Torch. I got through the first two rounds but was eliminated in the final round. Seb Coe wrote me a letter apologising but there were 11 people for every place at the end.
Many thanks, Wendy
