Saturday, April 28. From 4pm
Come to Withiel Village Hall and give support to a number of local “performers” who are willing to show their all, in contest, in an afternoon/ evening of comedy, musicality and awe. Have a lovely curry and a glass or two of wine and be bedazzled by the raw talent around us!!
We would like to hear from bell-ringers, musicians of all sorts, singers, poets, artists, writers, comedians, circus performers, magicians, dancers and cabaret acts extraordinaire. Double Acts Triple Acts!! Everyone is invited to participate. Everyone is welcome to attend and watch. We would love to hear from you ASAP so that we can post up the line-up in advance.
We are working on getting a number of humorous — if not celebrity! — judges for the contest, so if you can put anyone forward then let us know.
Following the contest there will also be a small Vintage Auction. Angelina Pieroni (theatre costumier for the Royal Opera House and the West End, London) has offered to make a number of retro underskirts for children and adults with the Jubilee 1950s/60s dance celebrations in mind (see below). If you have any 1950s/60s clothing or accessories that you would also like to put forward to auction, then please contact us and we shall allocate a lot for you. These donations will be really appreciated!
Emily Nott-Bower from She Sells Sea Shells has donated some fine silver jewellery and will have her designs on display. There will be exhibition space at Withiel Village Hall as well, so if you are a talented artist and wish to showcase your work we welcome you. Please contact us.
This is a pre-fundraising event. We are raising funds for the St Wenn and Withiel Charity Jubilee Celebrations (June 2-5, supporting the local Cornwall Blind Association), which promise to be even more spectacular than last year.
Saturday, June 2: street party and 1950s/1960s dance.
Sunday, June 3: Jubilee church service at St Wenn church, followed by a Garden Party at Wenn Manor, courtesy of Mr and Mrs Ed Coode and family. A car treasure hunt in the afternoon will be followed by a Prom in the Park-style concert to fireworks by the award-wining Mount Charles Brass Band.
On Tuesday, June 5 there will be a Jubilee church service at St Clement’s church, Withiel, followed by a Garden Party in the Withiel Playing Fields. Everyone is so welcome and it promises to be memorable occasion, marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee but also marking our incredible community spirit.
Money from the pre-fundraising events go toward ensuring all the logistics and services needed to put on these community events are covered, so as to keep ticket prices down. This enables everyone to come and enjoy themselves. Please support us.

This includes entertainment, curry for all and a free glass of wine. Other refreshments will be available.
