Creation (Christian) Festival

Sat, 4 Aug 18 - Fri, 10 Aug 18

Creation Fest 2018 returns to the Royal Cornwall Showground this summer

Creation Fest has grown over the past 14 years to become a major 7-day Christian music festival.  It began as a one-day event in 2002 by the beach at Woolacombe, North Devon, aimed at the surfing community; but after relocating to Wadebridge seven years ago it has become the largest FREE Christian festival in the United Kingdom. It is often recognized for the bright orange banners, posters, and volunteer shirts which bring a splash of colour to the Cornish summer each year.

The main content in 2018 will be the same as in previous years—a mix of Christian music and teaching, interspersed with fun, sports and activities around the Showground.

2000+ people are expected to camp or caravan on-site at the Showground, with hundreds more staying locally in B&Bs and guesthouses, plus many day visitors. Attendees travel from all over the country (and a few from beyond), representing some 200 churches—split equally between the Southwest and the rest of the UK.  They come to enjoy the music and learn from the teaching, and to simply enjoy the many activities offered on site.  Many people make it their summer family holiday, staying on for a few extra days either side.  But it is a community event too, with local people attending as day visitors, and many young people coming to the Showground to try out the amazing skate-park, often spending hours there each day. Throughout the week, there will also be a mind-boggling array of free fun activities for all the family to enjoy, including rescue ponies, a falconry display, bonfire night, a barn dance and much, much more.

MUSIC

Creation Fest always features gifted Christian musicians—some well known, and others less known—and showcases a wide variety of artists, ranging from acoustic to rap/hip hop, and solo to bands, from several countries. Over the week, 70+ bands will take to 5 music stages to bring a whole host of music to Cornwall.

SKATE PARK

The largest free indoor skate ramp in the South West will be open daily for free skate, BMX and scooter sessions, as well as demos and talks from our team of international pro skaters, including Beaver Fleming, recently featured at the Nitro World Games. And of course, there’s a packed programme of talks, art workshops, fitness sessions, sports activities and a week-long kids and youth programme – all free to attend

CHILDREN and YOUTH

Families with children are most welcome at CF, and there is a free daily kids’ programme filled with activities, crafts, games, and music for ages 5-11.  (Younger children are welcome to sit in, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)  Last year, more than 500 children participated during the week.  There is also a full youth programme, running from morning ‘til late evening in “The Tube” venue, with opportunity to meet and hear many of the bands again close-up, plus other fun activities and a café.

THE COST

Remarkably, there is no set registration fee for Creation Fest.  However, camping or caravanning on-site must be booked in advance, and is reasonably priced.  Some of the on-site activities must be paid for, but the music and teaching sessions are all free to attend.  There are food vendors and cafes selling food and drinks all day.  CF is made possible by the support of several churches, and because it is run by some 300 volunteers.
