Fowey Regatta 2019

For one week each August the usually tranquil town of Fowey attracts thousands of visitors who flock there for the Fowey Royal Regatta, one of Britain’s premier sailing events. It is also a fun-filled week for all the family – sailors and landlubbers alike.

What happens?

Fowey is one of the country’s best-loved Regattas, attracting thousands of visitors who enjoy the varied programme with plenty of childrens activities.

Live music every night on Town Quay will include up and coming folk-rock Haunt the Woods, Not the Beatles, Queen tribute Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys, ska from The Irregulars, as well as the popular DJ Zorro Carnival Party and not forgetting the Best New Cornish Band night.

All of these are totally free (except Haunt the Woods which is a Regatta fundraiser)

This year we are thrilled to welcome back the Red Devils as well as the traditional favourites the Carnival procession, Giant Pasty ceremony, Flora Dance, fireworks displays, crab-catching competition, swimming races, pasty-eating competition – and of course Fowey Town Band.

The Regatta is also one of the UK’s most famous sailing events. There’s a full programme of races, including the famous Troys, a class of sailing boat built only in Fowey.
