Looe Carnival is the highlight of the Looe Lions’ calendar with a week of events that appeal to everyone. Entertainment for the whole family is guaranteed as the busy seaside town gears up for seven days of fun
As is traditional in Cornwall, almost every town and village in Cornwall has a carnival and Looe is no exception with a weeklong program of events when locals and visitors alike get caught up in the celebrations.
How can you take part?
Every day there is something happening in the town. Join in the traditional Floral dance through the town, listen to some alfresco Cornish singing by a local choir on the seafront and watch the carnival parade with colourful floats, pipe bands, majorettes and brass bands. There are also some great activities especially for children. They can take part in the under 13 Mini Fun Run that starts from the fish quay and snakes through the local wood, there’s the Children’s Sand Modelling Competition on East Looe Beach and kids will love the traditional Punch and Judy shows.
Did you know?
It’s not just during the carnival that Looe likes to celebrate. According to The Times newspaper Looe features in the top four places in the UK to celebrate New Year when thousands of revellers flock to the town dressed in an array of fabulous costumes.
