WI at Wheal Martyn

Withiel WI went to Wheal Martyn museum recently and enjoyed a very interesting guided tour. Despite the heavy drizzle we were taken along the wooded trails and saw the water wheels and great long connecting rods which are all in full working order. Our guide explained how things worked when clay extraction was at its peak and the output was huge as was the number of workers.

Husbands were invited along and after the tour we all went to the cafe and had lunch which was really good value and most welcome.

Judy Lobb is planning our next outing to Trerice near Newquay in May, if you would like to come along without being a WI member please contact Judy on 01208 831207.
