Runaway hero

Doug Alsop of Tremodrett Mill has become the oldest man ever to complete the Lakeland 100 five times. It’s a brutal challenge: 106-miles through Lake District mountains on rough tracks over two excruciating days and nights. Three years ago Doug was the first person over 70  to finish and now he has become the oldest member of the elite 500 Club for those who have survived five races. He finished in 37 hours, 53 minutes and 10 seconds despite suffering serious injuries during the first night when rocks gave way under him.
