June walk – with cake

Withiel Village Hall Social Group Circular walk followed by Tea and Cake Saturday 3rd June

Another successful event at the Withiel Village Hall. We had 14 walkers, who all elected to do the longer walk of 5 miles, covering part of The Saints Way and then on to Demelza, which took about 2 hours. It was a lovely sunny day. A good walk was enjoyed by all, including several dogs. Well done to all those who took part and enjoyed the lovely countryside around Withiel.

My thanks to Erica Simpson who planned and led the walk.

The walkers returned to a very welcome spread of cakes and a refreshing cup of tea. My thanks to Wendy Symons, Anita Dunstan and helpers, who all made this run smoothly.

It rather belatedly occurred to me that not everyone would be able to do the walk, but might enjoy a cup of tea, a piece of cake and an opportunity to have a natter with friends, so I invited a few of the original Hall supporters along. Erica had already thought of this and invited Tony Liddicoat.

Although this was a free event, we received kind donations of £42.50 towards the Hall refurbishment. My thanks for everyone’s generosity.

My thanks to all those who took part and supported the event.

Our next couple of events are: Saturday 8th July 3pm Treasure Hunt around the Village, followed by a BBQ on the Hall field from 5pm. Saturday 23rd September Casino Night with bar 7pm for 7:30 start.

Kind regards
